Now is all There Is!
f) Now is the moment of Power
How much energy do you waste worrying about things in the past that have already happened and you cannot change, or things in the future that you cannot influence yet? How much energy do you scatter by trying to do several things at once? One of the biggest lessons I learned about this came from Fraser Hay, a very spiritual man and marketing coach who lives in the North of Scotland. He pointed out to me after looking at a profile I had written of myself for a social networking site that it was unfocused and didn’t give as powerful message as it might.
But the moment of power is Now; are you doing something consistent with your mission? As an example, did you know that there is a psychologist in the USA who is having great success treating patients who suffer from depression by banning them from watching news programmes after 6 o’clock in the evening. He says that all of the gloom and violence can affect people’s sleep. Improve he quality of their sleep and people’s mental outlook improves. If you want to catch the headlines, do so in the morning; even then, I know of some hugely successful people who never watch the news or read a newspaper. If something hugely significant happens, they know that others will talk about it and they can catch up.
Eckhart Tolle’s book The Power of Now talks about this in great depth, as do Thich Nhat Han’s books.
